Ben Mockridge (Gary Grimes) is a young man who dreams of becoming a cowboy. Although warned by several people about the true nature of the job he wants to have, Ben does not care about nothing but the accomplishment of his goal.


Over time, Mockridge naturally discovers that what he wanted was much worse than he thought. However, time also shows that becoming a cowboy was the necessary to turn him into an adult.


"The Culpepper Cattle Company" was the first feature of many professionals. As an actor, this was the first work by Charles Martin Smith, who plays Tim Slater.


Dick Richards also marks his debut in cinema with this film. This was his first film as director.


In production, who made his debut was Jerry Bruckheimer. This is the first of more than 50 films he has produced, in only 38 years of career as a producer.
